Academy instructors
Andrew Darker heads the professional team and brings with him a wealth of international experience. Andrew joined us from Abu Dhabi where he directed the set up of a new golf academy and promoted golf awareness to the Middle Eastern market.
Before this, Andrew was based in the uk as senior coach at the renowned Cranfield golf academy; Andrew says: "the experience I gained working alongside one of europe's top coaches, Scott Cranfield has proved invaluable to my own development as a premier coach".
Giles Johnson is the senior golf professional whose role within the golf team is to provide a first class learning environment for golfers of all levels and ability. He is fluent in both English and German.
Giles joined the Aaphrodite Hills golf team from germany, where he worked as a teaching professional promoting golf throughout the country. During his time in germany and when working at one of the top golf clubs in southern england, he gained vast experience in all areas of coaching to both beginners and players at high levels. Among Giles' many goals, he says: "I wish to promote the game of golf throughout the island and produce a future golf champion from cyprus through our junior golf academy to compete with the world's best tour professionals".
Grant Sinclair has joined Aphrodite Hills golf in october 2005 as the proshop manager / golf professional. Grant was born and raised in Edinburgh, Scotland and prior to joining Aphrodite Hills golf he was in Aberdeen for 2 years at West Hills golf club where he played on the Tartan tour.
He also worked in germany as a golf professional at 3 different golf clubs: Greven, Lohne and Bad Salzuflen. Grant qualified as a golf professional at lohne golf club under the German PGA and has coaching experience with all levels from beginner to professional.
“I am pleased to be joining the Aphrodite Hills golf team and I am very excited about setting up the new pro shop with prospects of having the best golf shop on the island”, said Grant.
Russell Evans has joined Aphrodite Hills golf in july 2006 as a golf teaching professional. Russell has just completed a ba (hons) in applied golf management where he achieved a 2:1, at the university of Birmingham. Russell is also P.G.A qualified. Russell is new to the golf industry but is young, enthusiastic and dedicated and will be a valuable asset to Aphrodite Hills. Along with teaching the resort members, visitors and staff, Russell will help promote Aphrodite Hills and golf throughout Cyprus through a series of summer hotel demonstrations and clinics.
